Advantages of Forged Steel Grinding Balls

Forged grinding balls have high output and large sizes, and are widely used in large ball mills or sag mills. The surface of the forged steel grinding balls are flatter and smoother, with higher impact value. These steel forged balls are operated in a large ball mill, have high parabolic distances, and are not easy to break. Our sag balls are a common choice for many large mines in domestic and abroad.


Quality Control Measures for Forged Steel Grinding Balls

Strictly implement the GB/T19001-2016 idt ISO 9001: 2015 system, and establish a complete product management and control system, product quality testing system and product traceability system.


It has internationally authoritative quality testing equipment, and the testing specifications are in line with the CNAS (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment) certification system; the testing standards can be fully benchmarked with the SGS laboratory.


Forged Balls Vs Cast Grinding Balls

Forged grinding balls, shaped under high temperature and pressure, have a denser, more uniform microstructure due to grain alignment, enhancing their strength and durability. These forged grinding steel ball generally exhibits higher hardness and superior wear resistance due to intense compaction and heat treatment, making it less prone to micro-cracks and wear. Forged balls also have greater impact toughness and a lower breakage rate, making them more reliable under high-impact conditions. In contrast, cast grinding balls are made from high-carbon steel, chrome steel, and sometimes alloy steels, formed by melting and pouring into molds, resulting in a heterogeneous microstructure with potential internal stress variations. While cast balls are initially cheaper to produce, the longer lifespan and lower breakage rate of forged balls can make them more cost-effective over time, especially in operations where downtime and replacement costs are significant.
